Alexander "Sandy" Turnbull (30 July 1884 – 3 May 1917) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside forward for English clubs Manchester City and Manchester United. He also made guest appearances for Rochdale and Clapton Orient.
On 19 February 1909, Turnbull scored the first ever goal at Old Trafford in a 4–3 loss to rivals Liverpool. He also scored the only goal of the 1909 FA Cup Final against Bristol City. After making 220 league appearances and scoring 90 league goals for Manchester United, Turnbull was banned from football for life for match fixing, however, he was posthumously re-instated in 1919 after he was killed in the Battle of Arras in France during World War I.
