The San Jose Earthquakes are an American professional soccer team based in San Jose, California. They are one of the 10 charter members of Major League Soccer, and were originally known as the San Jose Clash. When the trademark on the name "San Jose Earthquakes" expired in 1999, the team changed the name. This is the second team known as by that name; the original Earthquakes played in the old North American Soccer League from 1974-88.

The Earthquakes moved into their new Avaya Stadium for the 2015 season, after having played in Buck Shaw Stadium from 2008-14. This is the first time that the Quakes have played in a team-owned stadium.
