  • Hey, I don't know why but it seems like the fonts aren't working in Firefox and Chrome. Not on the home page, not on the template page, not on the Africa Hub page. However another wiki where I added it on the same way is working. Could you maybe look into the problem? I've already checked whether somebody may have changed something, but wasn't able to find a change which had to do with it...

  • Hey, it seems like the interlanguage linking from w:c:nl.voetbal doesn't work. For example the interlink here doesn't link to Hachim Mastour >> w:c:nl.voetbal:Hachim Mastour.

  • Hey, Dean, Recoded and I were yesterday in the chat and talked about some things to change, one thing was the background, which we now changed to white. Do you maybe have an idea how you can get all the templates again right for a white background? Maybe with your bot or something?

Also I'm not really sure what to do with pictures which don't show up, like for example on this page: Germany national football team.

And if we have compared and worked on the two pages (so the original one here and the one from the other wiki) can we just delete the /import page?

And is there maybe a way to get the message wall system in a green color, that looks maybe better since many things on the wiki are white and green?

And could you make the border of the chat box on the home page rounded like we did with the forum, I can't find out how I did that months ago...

  • Hi, for now I would like you to stop all merge actions with the other football wikia. Change back anything that has been done to the other site.

Sorry, but this will not work at all.

  • Would you be OK enabling the Variables and Arrays extensions? I could do with them to give additional functionality to the new infoboxes (before we look at LUAing them up, of course)

  • I am an administrator of The Formula One Wiki and I have been trying to get the top navigation bar to look like the one that you have on this wiki. I was wondering if you could explain to me how you did this?

    • The reason your wiki doesn't have those lines of code is because they're customisations of standard wikinav code that exist at this wiki only. By default, every wiki starts out with no customisations — that is, MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Wikia.css are blank. Any time you see code in these files, you're looking at something that the local admin team (or possibly, Wikia Staff working on behalf of the local team) have put in place.

  • Hey, the squad template on this page has also the problem with the white: FC Bayern Munich. Hopefully you can solve it :)

Also Re coded NL and I started working on w:c:nl.voetball and I started working on w:c:de.soccer maybe you can give us rights there so we can build the layout and a community and things :)

    Thank you in advance!

    • Hey :)

I fixed your FC Bayern Munich issue. All I'm doing to make these boxes compatible with the new color scheme is just to replicate the settings found at, say, {{fs start}}.

As a general recommendation, I'd strongly suggest that you guys start thinking about ways in which you can collapse the total number of infoboxes as much as possible. For instance, at tardis, there was a time where we had an infobox for books, comics, TV stories, audios and stage plays. This meant that if I wanted to change the design at all, I had to change it 5 times. But now we just have a single infobox that has enough parameters to be configurable for each one of those 5 types. It makes life — and style changes! — massively easier if you just continually adapt a few infoboxes, rather than creating a new template for every single little thing.

As for w:c:nl.voetbal, I think I'm going to share with you the advice of the Dutch team. Please go through the formal adoption process at w:c:nl.community:Adoptie:Aanvragen. Adopt both it and w:c:nl.football. Using w:c:nl.football:Special:Export and w:c:nl.voetbal:Special:import, transfer the useful bits of nl.football over to nl.voetbal. Then, when you're sure there's no useful info left on nl.football, ping me and I'll fix things so that nl.football redirects to nl.voetbal.

As for de.soccer, well, you wouldn't be eligible for rights there if you were successful in your nl adoption, because you can only adopt one wiki every month:

Je hebt geen andere wiki gesticht, geadopteerd of op een andere wiki beheerder rechten verkregen in de laatste maand. (my emphasis)

Let's just concentrate on continuing the great work you're doing here at the English site, and doing enough work on the Dutch sites to make sure you qualify for adoption of the Dutch site, under the normal rules. We can worry about the German site after the World Cup. After all, Bundesliga doesn't start until 22 August.

    • Ah, okay. I guess for the templates just redirecting is the best option. About the adoption, I'll do that later, also when I have more time to do things. Thanks for the answer :D

    • Just decided to do the adoption today and have already become b'crat :)

Just wondering, but would it be a good idea to ask the other user on the German wiki to do an adoption?

  • Hey, I've got some ideas/things:

    1. I think it's better to move back to the old infoboxes, photos were much better in that for example.
    2. Starting wikis in other languages, but I don't exactly know what the ideas of Wikia are. We could start ones in Dutch and German. But if Wikia want to do it on the now existing wikis, we'd like it to help out there as well. So I'd like to know what the ideas are and where we can help.

For the rest the wiki looks amazing in this world cup layout! Thnx for all the help!

    • We don't need to start new wikis, but rather to link to them. I'm taking care of that now, but it may take several hours for the links to set it. Obviously, though, your linguistic skills would make you and Re coded NL invaluable at w:c:nl.football.

As for your first thing, I don't know what the old infoboxes looked like. In fact, I've not substantially changed the infoboxes at all. I've only tweaked the colours so they would be legible. If you have screenshots of the old way, that'd maybe give me some notion of what you found superior about the old way. Honestly, though, I've changed like one line of code in the CSS.

        Loading editor
    • Ah okay, but would it be possible to make it in a way so that the photos will look better?

    • Discussed above question in chat with you.

    • Yeah, thank you for answering all these questions :)

But are you aware of the fact that in Germany soccer is translated by fussball? The wiki you chose is soccer wiki while there's also a w:c:de.fussball wiki. And I don't see the Dutch Wiki, but maybe I'm looking at the wrong place :P
