The East Germany national football team represented East Germany in international competitions. Team East Germany qualified for the 1974 IFA World Cup in West Germany, ending up 6th, and won the 1976 Olympic soccer competition. Other medals include Olympic silver medal in 1980 and bronze in Olympic silver medal in 1972.
The first international game was a friendly game played against Poland in Warsaw on 21 September 1952. The Polish won, 3–0. Its final game was also a friendly game, losing 0–2 to Belgium in Brussels, Belgium on 12 September 1990.
