Club Deportivo Social y Cultural Cruz Azul Asociación S.A. de C.V. or simply Cruz Azul (pron) is a professional football club based in Mexico City, Mexico. It competes in the Liga MX, the top division of Mexican football. Because "azul" means "blue" in Spanish, the club has traditionally worn a blue home kit.
With a total of nine Primera División championships under their belt, Cruz Azul holds the distinction of being the second most successful team in the CONCACAF Champions League. In 2014, they were ranked as the 99th best club globally and the third best club in the CONCACAF region. Furthermore, they proudly claim the title of the third most popular team in Mexico, and within Mexico City.
