Borja Valero is a Spanish footballer who currently plays for Internazionale in Serie A.
Club career
Valero was born in Madrid, Spain and started his career as a youngster in the ranks of Real Madrid. He didn't make it to the first squad, and on August 2007 signed for Mallorca on a five-year deal.
One year later, after a good individual season, Valero left to join Premier League side West Bromwich Albion. He was loaned back to Mallorca for the 2009-10 season where he scored 5 goals in 33 league matches. The following season he was loaned again, this time at Villarreal.
In July 2011, Villarreal signed Valero on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee. During the 2011-12, despite his good performances, Villarreal was relegated which made Valero to leave.
On 1 August 2012, he completed a transfer to Serie A side Fiorentina. He become one of the most important players there, collecting more than 200 official matches in 5 seasons.
On 10 July 2017, Valero left Fiorentina and signed with fellow Italian team Internazionale.
International career
Valero has represented Spain at under-17, -18 and -19 level. With under-19, he played at 2004 European championships. He played as a substitute in the final against Turkey, coming on in 85th minute and scoring the only goal at stoppage time.
He made his senior debut on 4 June 2011 in the friendly against United States national team by playing in the second half as a substitute, assisting Fernando Torres's goal in an eventual 4-0 win.
