As you know, yesterday — 11.8 — we performed the great bulk of the merge! This wiki is now about double the size it was on Sunday!
Don't forget, there are two tools that we've built into this process that will help you organise your editing time going forward:
- Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Import gives you a list of all the footballold articles that were added, but do not conflict with existing articles here.
- ImportReview gives you a list of all articles on footballold that have a counterpart here.
The second list is the more challenging, because you're going to have to decide, manually, how to integrate the material from the two wikis together. The kind of problem you have here is deciding what information on David Beckham/import should remain on David Beckham.
Ultimately, the goal is to delete every article that has /import after it.
The "post-merger cleanup period" is going to require a ton of communication between all sides. If you find information or templates or categories on a page, and you don't understand why it's there, it's probably a good idea to start a thread on it here at Board:Merge and try to work out a common plan.
It's /import not /Import
Just for clarity, capitalisation does make a difference on these pages that existed on both wikis. David Beckham/Import is not the same as David Beckham/import.
Categories
I'd make a very special plea for everyone to leave categories in place, as they are, for the time being. If you see categories on, say, David Beckham/import, please make sure they get carried over to David Beckham.
Although it is hard for admin to manipulate categories, it is very very very very easy for a bot.
So let's get all the categories we don't understand onto a Board:Merge thread, and then figure out whether we need to rename, delete or keep them. Dean27 has put a lot of work into his category tree, so let's not throw it out because of simple unfamiliarity.
Recent edits
As I write this, we are restoring edits made on this wiki since 31 July. I know you may have seen yesterday that your most recent work got wiped out, but that is not the case.
I expect to give the "all-clear" for editing soon.
