The Superleague

From the beginning of this day, one of the major themes in the world of football has been the creation of The Super League last night. If the pandemic does not thwart our plans, we will be officially following the event from 2022 or even in August this year. However, participants must be aware that FIFA has previously threatened that participants in the Super League, including footballers, will be completely removed from the tournaments it organizes, and thus players would not be able to participate in matches of the national team, including the World Cup. The same applies to competitions organized by UEFA. And of course I support such a statement!

The following football executives have been confirmed as the leaders of the organisation.

Last-Minute Deals

Yesterday was the last day the clubs were able to make deals with other clubs about players. And actually it was a quiet day for a transfer deadline day. Below the biggest transfers.

André Schürrle signed a contract at VfL Wolfsburg. The world champion of 2014 made this transfer from Chelsea F.C. and is now back home in Germany.

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado signed at Chelsea F.C. for a similar amount of money as Schürrle. He came from ACF Fiorentina.

Mohamed Salah went the other way, he was a Chelsea F.C. player but has now a contract at Italian side ACF Fiorentina.

Southampton F.C. completed the transfer of Filip Đuričić who came from S.L. Benfica.

Everton F.C. succeeded to get Aaron Lennon to the club on a loan deal. The club from which they loan …

Gabon or Equatorial Guinea?

The question above is the most important one of today I think. Will Gabon go to the next round or still Equatorial Guinea?

Currently Congo is leading in the group with 4 points and when they get at least one point in the match against Burkina Faso they're already qualified. But when Burkina Faso can win they will have 4 points as well and they it's going to be interesting. Gabon currently has 3 points and Equatorial Guinea 2. When these two teams will both get one point Gabon also has 4 points, so then the goal difference will make the difference for the countries. However when either Gabon or Equatorial Guinea will win, the winning team is guaranteed a place in the next phase.

So far Gabon has only won one and lost one match. They were able…

Will Ivory Coast be able to beat Mali?

Will Ivory Coast be able to beat Mali tonight? That's the question and we can't give the answer until the match has ended. So far all teams in Group D has one point. All teams scored one goal in their first match.

Ivory Coast had to fight for that one point. Guinea, the first opponent, scored already in the first half of the match. And when Gervinho also gets a red card it's hard to make the equalizer. Also because Gervinho was the best man of the team till that moment. Luckily there was a good attack of Seydou Doumbia and Wilfried Bony. The first one mentioned made the goal in the 72nd minute.

Also Mali didn't have a really easy match. In the first 15 minutes they were the best, but Cameroon became better and better. Mali wasn't able to att…

Basque Country and Catalonia draw 1-1 in San Mamés

Basque Country and Catalonia drew 1-1 in their friendly match on Sunday at the new San Mamés, Bilbao.
The match, commemorating the one hundreth anniversary of the first match ever between the two sides, happened on a festive evening in the newly-constructed stadium, which will be one of the 13 venues for UEFA Euro 2020.

Basque Country took an early lead after Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz scored in the third minute, after getting the ball from a teammate in the penalty area to simply open the score in an exciting match between the two sides. Catalonia became stronger after that, with a goal from Jonathan Soriano not being counted due to him being flagged offside. Gerard Deulofeu…

The Nordderby is coming

Sunday it's time again for the clash of the two most popular clubs from Northern Germany; Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen. A match both clubs really want to win of course.

The last years Werder Bremen usually won the match, so Hamburger SV really want to win the clash this time. The match is also important for both clubs because they're ranked 16th and 17th currently. Therefore the winner may leaves the relegation zone.

Match: Sunday 23 November 15:30 (UTC+1) at the Imtech Arena, Hamburg.

Netherlands beats Latvia

The Netherlands beated Latvia today. In total they scored 6 goals, evenly distributed over the two halfs.

Robin van Persie scored the first goal in the 5th minute already with a good header in the angle of the goal. Later Arjen Robben scored with a beautiful shot outside the area of the goalkeeper. The 3rd goal was made by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar with a smart shot from nearby the goalkeeper.

After the rest Jeffrey Bruma scored with a header from a corner. The next goal was made by Arjen Robben when he shot in the corner of the goal again. The last goal was from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, also with a shot in the angle of the goal.

Netherlands - Latvia Match Preview

The Netherlands already had an enormous pressure to win matches, but since they lost the match against Mexico they really have to win against Latvia this Sunday.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar started against Mexico; a lot people said Robin van Persie wasn't longer the best choice for the striker position. But he didn't score a goal. Now both strikers haven't really impressed, the national coach has a problem. A problem which can also provoke a new defeat, but now against Latvia.

Nobody expected The Netherlands would've so much trouble in their first matches. They're of course the expected winner of the group. They got bronze on the 2014 FIFA World Cup and won matches against teams like Brazil, Chile and Spain. Normally you would say it's easier to win…

Crucial matches for the Netherlands

This week is going to be a really important week for the Dutch national team. They really have to win these matches. Especially because they can't afford any more losses as they're now ranked third in the group.

The team already lost against the national teams of the Czech Republic and Iceland and only won of Kazakhstan with some luck in the UEFA Euro 2016 qualification.

The match of Wednesday, tomorrow, is also important for the Mexicans; they want to take revenge for the elimination on the 2014 FIFA World Cup. And of course the Dutch team wants be prepared for Latvia.

The second match against Latvia is also important for the national team coach, because he has already said he'll stop with coaching the team if they'll lose the match.

FIFA World Cup: Best players so far

Make your own "Top 11" squad in the comments!

We've already seen more than 50 matches on the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, so it's time to review what players have performed the best.

There are many goalkeepers who saved their national team in several matches. It's notable to say that the goalkeepers of the "less good" countries are usually ranked higher, since they have to stop more shots and have to catch more balls from out the air.

In our eyes Vincent Enyeama and Guillermo Ochoa have performed the best. Enyeama reached with Nigeria to the best 16 countries. They were beated by France on 30 June. Also Ochoa reached the round of 16 with Mexico and was beaten b…

The 2014 FIFA World Cup started on the 12th of June with Brazil's 3-1 victory over Croatia, but group members Mexico and Cameroon both need a victory to help themselves with a second place in Group A. 2014 FIFA World Cup: Prediction of the Players

The FIFA World Cup will begin soon (June the 12th, today) so we're going to predict which players will shine on the tournament. But also which players won't fulfill the expectations?

  • 1 Brazil
  • 2 Spain
  • 3 Germany
  • 4 Argentina
  • 5 Italy
  • 6 France
  • 7 England
  • 8 Portugal
  • 9 Belgium
  • 10 The Netherlands

Brazil is one of the teams major favorites to  win the World Cup this time, considering the fact that they are the hosts of the tournament. With many star players like Neymar, Hulk and Thiago Silva, Brazil has some of the best players of the tournament. We think Neymar will shine on this World Cup, his season at FC Barcelona wasn't that great, however. But since the world cup will be organized in Brazil, all people support him which will give him extra confidence. Thiago Silva…

Real Madrid has won the Champions League

Real Madrid C.F. has won the UEFA Champions League final yesterday in Lisbon. They defeated their neighbour Atletico Madrid. It was a really exciting match with many goals and attempts on target.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have many chances to score the first goal in the beginning. In the 8th minute Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico, already had to use his first player swap. Diego Costa wasn't able to continue playing. In the 36th minute makes Diego Godín the first goal for Atletico with a header. From now on Real Madrid will have the ball mostly. After the break continues this. In the last ten minutes of the match Atletico is only defending their goal. But in the 3rd minute of the extra time Sergio Ramos scores the equalizer.

We had to wait very long, but the Champions League final will be played next Saturday. Real Madrid will play against Atlético Madrid in Lisbon. Which club will win the Champions League?

That's the question and we'll know the answer Saturday. The special thing this year is that it'll be a derby aswell. Real and Atlético come both from Madrid. This also means we already know a Spanish club is going to win the cup this year.

Spanish clubs are doing very well in Europe this year. Sevilla has won the Europa League this year. They defeated Benfica in the final.

The final will be played this Saturday at 20:45 PM UTC+1.

R.I.P Tito

Hi. As you may or not know, though I'm usually around here, I'm not what you would say a football fan, I only like Barça and it's only for some non-footballistic reasons. However, today I want to write this blog for make a requiem to an important person for Catalonia and for all the football world: Tito Vilanova, FC Barcelona ex-coach, died of cancer at the age of 45. For him but for also all the people who are also fighting against that damned disease. So if you don't mind...

Descansa en pau, Tito. Els culers, barcelonistes, catalans i tot el món no t'oblidarem mai! Gràcies per tot.
