Beşiktaş Jimnastik Kulübü ('Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club'), also known simply as Beşiktaş, is a Turkish sports club. The club's football team is the first and one of the major teams in Turkey, having never been relegated to a lower division. The professional sports club, founded in 1903, is based in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, Turkey. Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club, established the first sport club of Turkey in 1903. The club competes in numerous branches including football, basketball, volleyball, handball, athletics, boxing, wrestling, chess, bridge, gymnastics, rowing, table tennis, paralympic sports and beach football. Beşiktaş is one of the most successful teams in Turkey, having never been relegated to a lower division. They currently compete in the Süper Lig.
Beşiktaş football team has won 21 league titles including 16 Turkish Süper Lig, three Turkish National Division and two Turkish Football Championship titles. They have also won 10 Turkish Cups and 9 Turkish Super Cups. Beşiktaş is the only team to have won the Süper Lig undefeated, in the 1991–92 campaign. The team last won the Turkish Süper Lig title and Turkish Cup during the 2020–21 season. Their best European performance was reaching the quarter finals in the 1986–87 European Cup. They reached knockout stage once again in the 2017–18 season, where they went undefeated on the group stage and finished on top.
The home ground of Beşiktaş was the İnonu Stadium with a seating capacity of 32,086, however this has been shut down in order for the Vodafone Arena to be opened on the same land. Whether or not an increase in the capacity by around 9,000 will be appreciated is unknown as the fans are already surprised and worried about the new stadium still being very small relative to their competitors. Their biggest rivals are Galatasaray, one of the most successful Turkish football club based in Istanbul. Beşiktaş also share rivalry with another major Istanbul club, Fenerbahçe.
