Managerless Plymouth Argyle reacted well to the New Year's Eve departure of boss Wayne Rooney as the Championship's bottom club twice came from behind to draw with Bristol City.

Fit-again Michael Frey marked his first start since October with a goal to set rejuvenated QPR on their way to an impressive Championship win against play-off chasing Watford at Loftus Road.

Oxford United secured a first away win of the season and their third victory in three games under new boss Gary Rowett as they edged past Millwall at The Den.

Stoke City earned a point in a Championship stalemate at high-flying Burnley in their final match under interim boss Ryan Shawcross.

Championship strugglers Cardiff City had to play with 10 men for almost half the game as Coventry City recovered from a goal down to draw in south Wales.

Danny Batth bundled in an injury-time equaliser within minutes of a controversial Pascal Struijk penalty opener as Blackburn Rovers denied Championship leaders Leeds United victory in a pulsating finish at Elland Road.

Norwich City loaded further pressure on Luton boss Rob Edwards after securing a first win on the road since September at Kenilworth Road.

Portsmouth climbed out of the Championship's bottom three thanks to a thumping victory over Swansea City.

Josh Windass scored an incredible goal from well inside his own half as Sheffield Wednesday comfortably beat Derby County in the Championship.

Managerless West Bromwich Albion climbed back into the Championship's top six as two-goal Josh Maja helped his side beat Preston North End.

Alex Gilbert's goal in the final seconds gave Championship promotion chasers Middlesbrough a dramatic victory at Hull City.

Sunderland boosted their automatic promotion hopes with an entertaining win over third-placed Sheffield United, who are now winless in three.
