Manchester City extended their winning run to 20 matches and moved 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League as John Stones' second-half strike was enough to secure victory over a resilient West Ham United.
Brighton lost 1-0 at West Brom - but the scoreline does not even begin to tell the story of a match in which the visitors had a goal ruled out after referee Lee Mason blew his whistle twice, and also missed two penalties.
Aston Villa moved within six points of the top four with an impressive victory over Leeds United on a difficult pitch at Elland Road.
Captain Jamaal Lascelles says Newcastle "need to stop talking and put points on the board" after missing a chance to move further clear of the Premier League relegation zone with a draw against Wolves.
Fulham midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek said the Cottagers "don't feel like losing at all" after producing another dominant, yet profligate, display in Sunday's goalless draw at Crystal Palace.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said his side are "taking a direction I like" after they followed up their Europa League win over Benfica with an impressive comeback victory at high-flying Leicester.
Gareth Bale scored twice and made another as Tottenham cruised to an easy Premier League win over Burnley that boosted their hopes of European qualification.
Manchester United lost further ground on Premier League leaders Manchester City after they played out a drab goalless deadlock with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp says his side are still in "exciting places" after beating Sheffield United to end a run of four successive Premier League defeats and move within two points of a Champions League spot.
Carlo Ancelotti says he wants Everton to experience the feeling of "touching" the top four after a win over Southampton that sets up a chance to overtake their rivals on Thursday.
Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City have "come through hell and done something more than remarkable" by overcoming a tough winter schedule to extend their winning run to 21 games in all competitions by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Kelechi Iheanacho stepped up superbly in the absence of a number of injured team-mates to earn Champions League-chasing Leicester a potentially important draw at Burnley.
Bottom club Sheffield United survived for more than 30 minutes with 10 men to claim only the fourth Premier League win of their disappointing season and dent Aston Villa's European ambitions.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his Manchester United side need to find their "spark" again after they were held at Crystal Palace - a third goalless draw in a row for the visitors.
Tottenham recorded consecutive Premier League victories for the first time since November as Jose Mourinho's side survived late Fulham pressure at Craven Cottage.
Everton continued their push for European football by beating struggling West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
Liverpool defender Andy Robertson says they cannot "rely on the past" after Chelsea inflicted a fifth successive competitive home defeat on the reigning Premier League champions for the first time in their history to leave them battling to make the top four.
